On March 15, 2023, the secretariat of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Animal Husbandry held a project promotion meeting on animal husbandry national standards under study in Wuhan, Hubei Province, to discuss and promote the progress of the standards under study and ensure that the research and development tasks are completed on time. Zhang Yong, an academician of the CAE Member, a professor of Northwest A&F University, Zhao Shuhong, the dean of the School of Animal Science and Animal Medicine of Huazhong Agricultural University, and other experts working on the drafting of national standards, the secretariat of the Animal Husbandry Standardization Committee and working group staff attended the meeting, and Zhao Xiaolizheng, a senior animal husbandry engineer at the National Animal Husbandry Station, presided over the meeting.

The meeting emphasized that the completion rate of standard projects and the rate of submission for approval and rejection are binding indicators for the evaluation of the Standardization Committee, and are crucial for the determination of the evaluation results and the normal operation of the Standardization Committee. Each project unit and chief expert should take improving the completion rate and reducing the rejection rate as the bottom line requirements, adhere to both quality and efficiency, and lay a solid foundation for ensuring the project completion rate and striving for the initiative in evaluation.

At the meeting, 25 major drafting experts studying national standards reported in turn on the main process of drafting standards, current progress, next steps, and promotion measures, exchanged positive results achieved in the development of standards, and clarified the follow-up schedule. The meeting required that each project undertaking unit should refine and improve the "Implementation Schedule of National Standards for Animal Husbandry under Study" based on the meeting situation, effectively put the standard development work on an important agenda, schedule the construction period in reverse according to the time nodes, organize the drafting, targeted consultation, and preliminary review work, and submit it to the Standardization Committee for review as soon as possible, Promote the development of animal husbandry standardization from a quantitative and scale oriented approach to a quality and benefit oriented approach by achieving solid results in the formulation and revision of standards.
